Natural Hair Treatments You Can DIY at Home

If you're anything like us, you spend an embarrassing (yet reasonable) amount of time looking into every product available to help you finally eliminate frizz in your hair or relieve that itchy scalp. Although a hair product could be available to help you achieve red carpet-worthy curls, there's also a do-it-yourself option in the form of a natural hair treatment.

Natural Hair Treatments You Can DIY at Home

You can make these in your kitchen without spending any extra time or money at the salon. Some of these natural hair treatments, like coconut oil, avocado, and eggs, may be well-known to you, but did you know that yogurt, bananas, and apple cider vinegar all have health benefits that can help your hair look flawless and be ready for your next Christmas party?

If you're concerned that some of these natural hair hacks might not smell the best, master generalist Juan Diego Restrepo of Salon Ziba NYC offers a method to keep your scent from coming through in your products.

According to Ziba, "Add some natural fragrance oil to keep the hair smelling good," Woman's Day is informed. "Or use some of the very popular Kérastase oils, like Elixir Ultime or Chronologiste Oil, to remove any unwanted food scent." Nevertheless, there's no excuse not to give one or more of these at-home natural hair treatments a try.

You already have the minimal items needed for all these recipes in your bathroom or pantry. We guarantee that these tips will get you closer to having smoother, healthier hair so you may rock whatever stunning hairdo you like, even though it can take some trial and error to figure out which natural treatments work best for your particular hair type.

1. One rosemary oil

It's possible that excessive product accumulation is the cause of your hair's recent limpness, but don't worry. You can revive your hair with this natural product remover.

How to use it: mix apple cider vinegar and rosemary oil, then rinse. "Bring out all of the dirt and build up in your hair and braids" is what the natural treatment will do.

2. Two DIY deep conditioners

Although this specific DIY hair treatment calls for using a standard deep conditioner, its other substances will make you feel like you just left the salon.

How to use it: Oludele advises putting some deep conditioners into a blender and some mayonnaise, coconut oil, honey, olive oil, and castor oil. Apply to wet hair, then rinse with warm water. "This is good to give your natural hair protein and leave your hair feeling good and natural," she explains. "After that, you can moisturize with tea tree oil.

3 Water with Rice.

Because rice water retains the starchy water left behind after the grain is removed, master hairdresser Ilda Plaka of Salon Ziba NYC claims that it can improve the health and beauty of your hair. Plaka tells Woman's Day, "It contains many vitamins: E, amino acid, B vitamins, and minerals." "It helps hair to be stronger, smoother, and shinier."

How to use it:

Measure out one cup of raw rice, then give it a good rinsing. After that, add three to four glasses of water and wait thirty minutes. Once the allotted time has elapsed, filter the water into a fresh spray container. Plaka says to wash your hair with the same shampoo you typically use and then rinse. Next, massage your scalp and hair after misting them with rice water. After 20 minutes, rinse it off and you're done. Conditioner is not necessary.

4 Yogurt-Based Hair Mask

According to Giovanni Vaccaro, the artistic director of Glamsquad and a founding member, "yogurt contains lactic acid, which typically hydrates hair, preventing frizz and adding moisture," Woman's Day said. And what makes this mask the greatest of all?

Depending on your haircare goals, you can add any additional components. "If you want to shine and strength, mix in avocados," he states. "I enjoy adding limes and lemons to get a PH balance. I enjoy adding a mild organic oil, such as sunflower or safflower seed oil, for the maximum shine."

How to use it: After blending the yogurt with your favorite ingredients, apply the mask to your hair and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing it out, advises Vaccaro.

5 Olive Oil

According to Vaccaro, "This mask is loaded with fatty acids to strengthen hair and antioxidants to help fight off free radicals and impurities," it is especially beneficial for overly-treated and damaged hair. Not to add, you most likely already have all the ingredients needed to prepare this mask.

How to use it:  Combine one tablespoon of oil, half an avocado, and two teaspoons of honey. After 20 minutes, apply and rinse.

6. Coconut oil

One of the world's most multipurpose items is coconut oil, which can be used for cleaning, conditioning, and cooking. According to Healthline, lactic acid facilitates the easier absorption of coconut oil into the hair shaft, making it an excellent option for minimizing protein loss from chemical treatment or sun exposure.

You should try this mask if your hair becomes frizzy as soon as the weather becomes cold. "It will exfoliate and moisturize your scalp while smelling delicious," explains Vaccaro.

How to use it:  Combine 1 tablespoon of raw coconut oil, 2 tablespoons of raw sugar, and 6 drops of peppermint oil to make a coconut oil hair mask. After five minutes of scalp massage, rinse off the mask.

7 Tea

Tea may help revive and jumpstart the day for some of us; coincidentally, it can do the same for your hair. Black tea may intensify the color and provide a transient sheen if you've noticed that your dark hair has been appearing a little lifeless lately, claims Healthline. If you currently drink tea, it will be very easy to incorporate this at-home cure into your daily routine. Additionally, it's still quite simple, even if you're not. Bonus: Research has indicated that black tea can aid in the loss of curls.

To use: Pour some black tea into a cup and leave it to cool.
After adding the tea to your hair, leave it on for ten minutes.
After rinsing the tea out, admire your glossy hair.

8 Butter

Butter is rich and creamy, but it also seems that it can make your hair softer. According to Daily Mail, the procedure is based on a traditional Ethiopian method where individuals use butter to nourish their hair and shield it from the sun. According to NaturallyCurly, butter is a fantastic way to provide hydration and shine to people with curly hair.

To use:

Apply a few spoonfuls of butter that has come to room temperature to your hair.
Put on a shower cap and leave it on your head for up to an hour.
Give your hair a typical wash.
